Onboarding Process for Indirect Participants with Passport and Sponsor Bank
Welcome to the onboarding journey for the Immediate Low-Value Payment System (SPBVI) as an indirect participant. With the support of Passport and the Sponsor Bank, we’ll guide your organization step by step so you can access Colombia’s real-time payment infrastructure.
Our goal is to make the process clear, smooth, and secure, from contract signing to going live.

1. Before You Start
You’ll need:
- A signed NDA with Passport.
- A demo session of the immediate payments service.
- Acceptance of the commercial offer.
- Validation, negotiation, and electronic signature of the contract and annexes.
During this stage, Passport is your main point of contact through email, a dedicated Slack channel, or the Dashboard, where you can also log incidents and access technical support.
2. Kick-Off
Once the contract is signed, we schedule a Kick-Off Session:
- Teams are introduced.
- Overview of the onboarding process.
- Delivery of the document package required by the Sponsor Bank.
- Review of Sandbox access, endpoints, operating model, and technical docs.
- Agreement on a tentative timeline for testing and go-live.
- Opportunity for Q&A and confirmation of communication channels.
3. Submission of the Document Package
The participant must submit to Passport a document package including:
- Certificate of incorporation and legal representation.
- Updated Tax ID (RUT).
- ID of the legal representative.
- Financial statements and tax filings.
- Shareholders and board member lists.
- Specific forms and contracts (e.g., VIN-F-10, CAP-F-32, etc.) from Sponsor Bank.
Passport reviews and validates the package, provides feedback if needed, and forwards it to the sponsor bank for approval.
4. Account Opening and Funding
- Passport requests account opening with the sponsor bank.
- The sponsor bank validates the documentation and may request changes.
- Once approved, the bank opens and certifies the account.
- The participant must fund the account within 24 hours after opening.
5. Implementation & Integration
- Validation of documentation and required technical integrations.
- Endpoint connection with Passport support.
- Review of the operational model.
- Connectivity and payment tests in the Sandbox.
- Documentation of the participant’s operating model.
6. Certification
Certification ensures transactions are executed correctly and securely. The process includes:
- Passport requests certification from the sponsor bank.
- Sponsor bank schedules validation sessions.
- The participant runs test cases with the bank’s support.
- The participant prepares a test report.
- Passport validates and submits evidence to the bank.
- The bank evaluates compliance.
If issues arise, tests are repeated until full compliance is achieved.
7. Go Live 🚀
- The sponsor bank confirms the official go-live date.
- The participant prepares production operations.
- On the scheduled date, operations begin.
- Passport keeps support channels open for incidents and inquiries.
In Short:
- Accept Proposal: Sign NDA, attend demo, and approve commercial offer.
- Sign Contract: Complete electronic agreement with Passport.
- Kick-Off: Initial meeting, process overview, and Sandbox access.
- Submit Documents: Legal, financial, and technical package validated by Passport.
- Open Account: Sponsor bank opens and certifies account; participant funds it.
- Integrate & Test: Endpoint connections, Sandbox testing, and operational model review.
- Certify: Run official test cases with sponsor bank.
- Go Live 🚀 : Sponsor bank confirms go-live date; operations begin.
- Stay Supported: Passport continues providing assistance and updates.
